Reminiscent of the original film for me.
The movie was filmed mostly with a handheld with enhances the jerky reality that Jason Bourne inhabits.
I wasn’t sure what I was getting when I looked at the trailer and the movie pleasantly surprised me.
Lots of fun, but most of the twists are easily spotted.
Interesting choice of ending.
The car chase was the most realistic and violent car chase I have ever seen. I LOVED IT!!! It’s better than the chase in Matrix Reloaded only because this was a non-sci-fi chase/movie.
There are a couple of “unbelievabilities”* leading up to it, but I’m willing to suspend disbelief for a freaking awesome car chase. 1) How can a guy who can take out someone in a moving car not hit a guy slowly walking away. 2) How can a car still be intact after the chase? I mean, Damon practically totals the car then just opens the door? The door should have fallen off as he forced it open. Oh well, thank goodness for Russian engineering.
Hooray for Karl Urban. First Chronicles of Riddick and now this? When will this guy get a break? …apparently right now. He’s got nothing on his plate at the moment (whether it be announcements or pre-production).
Hooray for that guy from XXX and Timeline. You know the one I’m talking about. What’s his name…Marton Csokas. I couldn’t remember his name, but I knew him from those films (among others. He plays another survivor of the Treadstone project.
Music really enhanced the movie.
I loved the credits because the background was scrolling upwards at a slower rate than the credits so it looked like the credits were scrolling downwards…you need to see it to understand it.
Total production – $110 million.
Domestic gross as of August 8 – $124 million.
It’s already made more than it’s production value, but it probably won’t get much higher due to the new August releases.
I read an article in the LA Times about how people love thrillers in August, so maybe it’s ticket sales will pick up a little bit before Alien vs. Predator comes out.
Has there even been a blockbuster film this summer? Well Shrek 2 counts. Spiderman 2 is still hanging in there, as are Harry Potter 3 and The Day After Tomorrow. But there hasn’t been a Pirates of the Caribbean movie this year. Ah, maybe I’m just whining to much.
One thing’s for sure, this is going to be one hell of a holiday season. The Incredibles, Alexander, The Polar Express, The Brothers Grimm, SpongeBob SquarePants, National Treasure, Christmas with the Kranks (based on John Grisham’s Skipping Christmas (“hell yeah!”)), Ocean’s Twelve, Blade: Trinity, The Aviator, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Meet the Fockers and The Phantom of the Opera! Holy crap am I going to fail the Fall and Winter Quarters of my sophomore year of college. No fair.
*Unbelievability – adverb – an event that stretches the limits of believability in a realistic movie.
